Conquering Idanre Hills With The NotJustOk Team

Hellur…Who’s excited about the weekend?! I am! Not like I’m going to Idanre again but hey, the weekend is pregnant with plenty promises but first of all, introduction, let me gist you about all that went down last weekend! I cant wait to dig into the gist! Let some sound track play.

Now I had always wanted to go on a trip with social prefect. Like the chic just made travelling around Nigeria the coolest thing ever and I was so envious! Finally with the long holiday last weekend, I and my partner in greatness, thedelphinator said, this idanre hill must be conquered and we registered! Boy was I excited or yea! I packed my bag with all my travel buddies and off we went to the rendezvous point.

And then I met the team. Bunch of quiet, very normal people. Or so I thought at the beginning. But my friends, I was wrong! When the trip started, all of our various colours started showing! There was not one quiet one among us. We started with some intriguing game called the Lemon/Agbalumo game. Hahaha. Yes, laugh. But it was fun! Adenike and Dami, Number I/20 as we called him, won this round. We had this game where capitals of countries were asked and this Yoruba demon, angel, Abayomi, smoked every single one of us. I only answered two of them but before anyone else could answer, he gave the right answer. I was like Kilode? Fred, another intelligent tourist, tried to come close but well, we had a winner in Abayomi. Other games like concentration was played and the fine Hannatu (it took a while for her name to stick, such a lovely name!) won this round! ‘Woni’, she didn’t come to play oo.

We finally reached Idanre and our over-zealous tour guide took us up 660 steps, and 200 and a half mountains! (exaggerating sha but we finally got there). The stories we heard on our way though, too funny! Once we passed through the valley of ‘do-not-shake-anybody-nor-look-back’. Err yes, I obeyed. We saw this little stream which they called the Idanre healing stream. You can guess the story that goes with that right? We visited the school, prison, man-testing-spot (where men who were ready to marry had to lift this incredible rock to gain approval).

On our way back, Uncle Tour-Guide tricked us into following another route and let me confess, I almost died there. The steep mountains were scary as hell! At a point I looked back, saw the mountains and was like “Chineke who sent me on this mission biko?’. However, when I finally got down to earth, it was all worth it! If you watched my insta-stories, then you’ll get my excitement! (if not, go follow now biko so you don’t miss others). The view was surreal! I wonder why the government isn’t taking tourism as seriously as it should because these are gold mines in the making! I would give anything to have these kind of memories, one city at a time. As long as we’ve got the social prefects!

Meeting great and #notjustok people like Hair-to die-for Tomi, Professional swimmer Ernest, Pretty Hanie, Executive-producer Adenike, Introverted Seyi, Ibukun, Davido-loving Ak, Juliet, pretty-smile Jennifer, Fred, Oyinda, crazy-bone Moji, Chinenye, Virtue, Kike, World Abayomi, and Dami was the winning sauce that made this Idanre trip a mouth-watering meal! The memories we forged were epic! From carpooling to dancing in the rain around chairs, mountain hiking, and recreating the famous and viral shove-it-up-your-ass video that trended! phew! Well if you weren’t there…

I’m sorry, I meant you missed out a lot. And I promise to invite you to the next one. Shout out to my new favorite people, Chiamaka and Ani, the Social Prefects themselves! Without them, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have met this premium brand of individuals. Love to you all!

I promised I wasn’t going to write too much so I’ll drop my pen in the golden basket now. *wink*

P.S; Did I mention we had an incredible time visiting the Oba’s palace? Phew…story for another day.

Hope you have a weekend just as LIT as my last! Happy weekend!

*hugs and kisses*

Live. Love. Laugh. Look. Better
